Food Gallery

[UNDER CONSTRUCTION]

People always ask me "What do you do with all your food picture?" and I say, "Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....facebook?"  Even though that's a lie and I don't have the whole abundance of food pictures on there.  So I've decided to make a travel gallery of food by region with short descriptions or anything important you need to know.

California

~ Granville Cafe ~

One of the greatest restaurants in California...I haven't had anything below average there.

Butternut Squash Soup.

Garlic Tomato Bisque.

White Tortilla Soup

Housemade Hummus.

Pastrami Sandwich.

Ahi Filet.

Ahi Sandwich

Chicken BBQ Pizza

Beef Stroganoff.  REALLY GOOD.

~ Anaheim White House ~

Fancy and tasty restaurant in Anaheim.  Yea...

Not only does their staff have class, but even the napkins.

Fancy Salad.

Salmon with a WHITE CHOCOLATE mashed potato...weird yea?

"Sand Dabs Dolce Gabbana"

Some kind of Ravioli.

Salmon salad?

Tasty pasta until I found a hair in it...so I sent it back.

WOW.  A complimentary "Anniversary" dessert even though their Anniversary was the month before haha.

~ Porto's Bakery ~

According to my mom, "Cuban's are the best cooks."  Then I think to myself, have you ever even had Cuban food?  As my brother-in-law and I just nod our heads in agreement.  Then I realized whatever the nationality is of that person she is talking to, she just tells them those group of people are the best cooks...hmmm.  Anyways, here's a Cuban bakery that won't disappoint, but sorry, they're only in California =( (sigh...why did I ever leave)...People usually go for their amazing desserts, which I need to find more pictures of, but here are some of their delicious goods and sandwiches.

Potato Ball

Something with steak...forgot what it's called...

Tuna Melt

Their special Strawberry something for Easter!

~ Oomasa ~

Little Tokyo could be so amazing with so much potential, yet it's roaming with a bunch of old Japanese people...Even though there's not much to see there, it's jam packed with good food, good stores, and more good food.  Oomasa used to have some of the best Saba Sashimi I've ever had, but when we went there again recently, it was not the same.  The giant juicy Saba piece that I remember had evaporated into a tiny wimpy sliver.  Weaksauce.

Fish Tempura

So this is what it looks like now...

And I found this picture from the year before...see that piece of Saba in the back leftish?  Look how much nicer that was!

Las Vegas

~ Jean Philippe Patisserie~

The truth is, we didn't try half of these pastries in the pictures...they were too expensive...BUT aren't they pretty?  Well this bakery is in the Bellagio (I kinda want to shove him over to the Paris Hotel...), so what do you expect besides overpriced sugary things that look nice?  I don't remember what they tasted like so enjoy looking at them:

A giant chocolate fountain....what a waste of money.

This is the part where we display the pastries we could afford:

Look at that, you can even keep the cup (even if it wasn't supposed to be free my mom would have anyways...she's secretly Chinese).

Look how big it is compared to those people! ^0^

~ Mon Ami Gabi ~

Ok so these pictures will do you no good since I recently looked at their menu and saw NONE of these dishes on there -_-.  But I'm sure they're other stuff is just as tasty.  We went there for the French Toast but they said something like they only had it on Sundays or something...but I think they made it special for us...I don't remember it was a long time ago but either way we got to try their French Toast, which my brother-in-law claimed was one of the best French Toast he has ever had.  If you haven't noticed, my sister and brother-in-law are good people to tag along with for they are the ultimate foodies.  They're like that grumpy food critic on Ratatouille, minus the grumpy part.  But the point is they have a very fine palette that can detect good food.  So without further adooo, here is a sample of what we had:

A quiche.

A Crepe.

A Duck.

And last but not least...
A toast.

With Banana Fosters type toppings.
I didn't see this flavor on the menu but I did see the Blueberry French Toast which, if I remember correctly, was boring because it was just plain old blueberries.

New York

~ Gray's Papayas ~

New York has everything.  But what they specialize in is white people and American food.  So I was introduced to the best hot dog place who serve beef not pork hot dogs, yay!  They're not what one would expect, they're skinny and not the giant fat ones like Americans like it but fear not, they're tastier and have just as much fat, yay!

They have several locations.

I'm sure all the other hot dog joints have a sign like this (maybe not with a pedophile hot dog on it) but this may be the only one with a TRUE claim.

~ Rice to Riches ~

Ok I don't really have much to say about this place (mostly because I really can't remember what it tasted like), only that this is the only rice pudding place I have ever come across.  They have so many flavors and I had this random picture that I think you should all see.  Who knew you could make a living out of it...

~ Serendipity 3 ~

There's something special about this place but I can't remember what it is....I think a movie was filmed there and it has "history" which was my least favorite subject in high school.  Anyways, that's not important, what's important is their food, or more like their Frozen Hot Chocolate.  The irony of that name is not as clever as how good they made it taste.  They have other delicious frozen and overpriced drinks that were prettier than they tasted.  I mean they were good, but their presentation is pretty fancy.  I mean come on, they hold the Guinness World Record for the most expensive desert...a $25,000 dessert called the "Frrrozen Haute Chocolate"...why would you even do that?  It's got like 24-carat gold in it and stuff, it's like ok congratulations on creating this dessert but who's gunna buy it?  Dummies.

Regular "Frrrozen Hot Chocolate"

And their "Frrrozen Haute Chocolate"

~ Magnolia's Bakery ~

Now if you've watched Sex in the City (not that anyone does), you may remember Magnolia Bakery making an appearance in an episode.  The only reason this bakery is so popular is because of that 10 seconds on a sappy TV show.  The line wraps around the block making is seem even more popular just cause you can only fit like 5 customers in it at a time.  But yea it is really popular but the cakes are junk.  Ok well I only tried one and some cupcakes and they weren't anything special...I mean some bakeries in Denver produces better cupcakes than these...OUCH.

I was too disappointed to remember to take a picture of the front.  But if you see something like this with a punch of people standing around it, don't be fooled!  I know humans have a tendency to stand in lines for no reason but fight the urge!

It was self-serve cupcakes...is that sanitary o_O?

Although I did enjoy watching him spin the cake and place the black thingys down while he spun it *_*

What??  It's just frosting cookie frosting cookie x5!  Sick!  Oprah you liar!

~ Crumbs ~

Ok I don't remember what these tasted like but I do remember that this is one of my sister and brother-in-law's favorite cupcake places, and that is saying A LOT.  Trust me, they've almost tried more cupcakes than Rush Limbaugh...ok maybe not that many, but they are cupcake experts with a fine palette.

Australia (Melbourne)

~ Chocolate Buddha ~

This place is NOT what it seems like.  The only relation the name has to its restaurant is the Buddha part...which you are supposed to relate with Japanese I suppose.  So this is a JAPANESE restaurant in Federation Square that has no Chocolate relations whatsoever.  But they DO have really good duck ramen (pictured below).  Most of their ingredients are happy and organic!  And unfortunately, Mac's aren't as great as they seem since mine just one day randomly decided to flash me with a folder and a question mark inside it....if you've had a Mac for over two years, you'll know what I mean...so the point is, I lost all my Australia pictures and some were survived by, I hate to admit it, Facebook.  So here are the only food survivors:

~ Hot Chocolate ~

I don't know why the Australians like naming things with the word Chocolate in it but this place specializes in....Fish n Chips.  How surprising, a name that has nothing to do with the food they serve.  Well, the Aussie's have a very different view of Fish n Chips...but a healthier version!  It's grilled not fried and their chips are...fries?  hahaha.

~ Time Out Cafe ~

I had so many other pictures from this place and I can't really remember what else we had...sigh.  So from this picture I can see that I had to try their muesli after after wiping Wailana out of theirs.  All I can say is Time Out's muesli is way more fancy and a bit more expensive.  The two mueslis don't really even fit in the same category they were so different.  But as I say, any muesli, is good muesli! (Actually I don't...)

~ Chandon Winery ~

Ok this is a winery and we didn't really eat anything but bread, cheese, and wine from here but I was sad from the disappearance of my other pictures =( so wanted to post this for no reason.

McCafé ~

Ok I didn't eat any of these but can you believe this is a McDonalds??  Has it been that long since I've eaten McDonalds or are the Aussies stepping it up??
